All the information needed for club policies

HSC club welfare officers are here to help

Hartlepool Swimming Club is committed to providing an environment in which all children participating in its activities have a safe and positive experience.

If there are any concerns for our Swimmers, HSC club welfare officers should be contacted via email. Should parents feel the need to raise an issue or just need to speak in confidence please don’t hesitate to do so.

Hartlepool Swimming club committee is run by volunteers who also hold permanent jobs and undertake swim club committee roles in their spare time. Every effort will be made to respond within 48 hours. If you feel you cannot wait this long, then you do have further options available to you. Please review the advice below for further details.

Angela Leonard and Terry Wood

Please email welfare-officer@hartlepoolsc.co.uk, alternatively they are available in the spectator area during most training sessions.

Raising a safeguarding concern

If the matter is urgent and you cannot contact your Club Welfare Officer, you can call the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000.

If it is an emergency because a child or children are at immediate risk, then call the police on 999 or children’s social care in your area. For non-emergencies 101.

Take the name and contact details of the person you have spoken to and the incident/referral reference number (if applicable) so you have a record of the advice they give, then report this to the club welfare officer as soon as possible.

The Swim England Guide to reporting a child welfare management concern can be read here:

Hartlepool Swimming Club follows the guidelines set out in Wavepower, which is Swim England’s safeguarding policy and procedures document.

The current version of Wavepower can be found here:

Mobile Phone Policy

HSC along with Swim England has a zero-tolerance policy on the use of mobile phones and other digital devices in changing rooms and on poolside.

Mobile phones and other digital devices should not be used under any circumstances during Swim England regulated activity, including in the changing areas. All our training sessions are ‘regulated activity’ within the definition of Wavepower. Mobile phones should remain in the swimmer’s bag. All use of mobile devices in a changing room must be reported to the Club Welfare Officer and the venue.
